This vacancy is for a Apprentice Fabricator Welder apprentice based in Billington, Clitheroe.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc.
The vacancy is an opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in Engineering. If successful the apprenticeship could consist of up to 4 years learning. The first year will be based full time, Mon to Fri, at Training 2000 Ltd in the Engineering workshop where the apprentice will gain an insight into Engineering, and start to develop new skills relevant to the tasks they will be completing once they return to their respective employer. As well as this they will also begin their Further Education course, BTEC Diploma, City and Guilds, which will be 1 day a week classroom based learning.
Your job role will consist of different tasks such as:
- Report to assigned mentor.
- To train in the use of machinery / equipment under the direction of skilled and competent workers.
- To work with one of the trained fabricator / welders on specific jobs for clients, learning to weld and fabricate steelwork to drawings as required.
- Make known any suggestions for improvement regarding any aspects of the workplace conditions (Health and Safety) to mentor.
- Be aware of the impact of ISO 9001 and BS1090 standards in terms of day–to–day working.
- Ensure that the work area is always kept clean and tidy.
- Carry out duties as requested by mentor.
- Remove waste materials to the relevant waste handling services.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are safe for use and stored responsibly.
- Apprentices are trained on all rules and procedures within the factory including all health and safety regulations.
- Be aware of the importance of wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment i.e. Steel toe capped boots, glasses & ear protection.
- Ensure that weekly timesheet is booked up correctly, signed and returned by Monday 08:30am to the admin office.

Training to be provided
The apprentice will be working towards completing the Metal Fabricator Standard which will include the following:
- L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- L3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
- Functional skills – English, Maths (if not already achieved).
