Learner Profile: Holly

Holly, Finance Manager at Ideal4Finance, first heard about Training 2000’s Accountancy Apprenticeships at a careers event in high school.

The apprenticeship route had always appealed to Holly, as the idea of hands-on learning and gaining practical experience was appealing to her.

Holly enjoyed maths at school; however, she believes that it was never her strongest area. Holly says: ‘I never let this put me off applying for an accountancy apprenticeship, if anything it motivated me more to get one’.

Training 2000 discussed the progression routes available for AAT students with Holly at a careers event at her high school, which led Holly consider where this could take her career in the future, something she hadn’t considered previously.

On her Apprenticeship journey, Holly says: ‘my skills have dramatically developed since I started the Apprenticeship. I joined the workplace as quite a shy individual, and I now confidently run a finance team of 3. I am able to regularly communicate with key stakeholders such as customers, colleagues, directors and even our CEO’.

Holly, who is now a Finance Manager at Ideal4Finance is on track to complete her Level 4 course by April 2024. She is looking to develop her knowledge on the world of accountancy and finance further and will be starting her CIMA qualifications shortly after.

"I would definitely recommend the Apprenticeship route to any individual who has an idea of what career path they would like to take, or anyone who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills."

Holly says that: ‘I am doing something I had always wanted to do, however, with progression I have been opened up to lots of other opportunities within the workplace’.

To those considering an Apprenticeship, Holly says: ‘the route allows you to earn whilst you learn and provides a clear pathway for progression if you wish to take it’.
