Scaffolding

Scaffolders put up and down scaffolding that allow workers to reach the higher levels of buildings safely during construction, cleaning and renovation projects. Scaffolding is physically demanding so you need to be fit, have good hand-to-eye co-ordination, good organisation skills and the ability to plan ahead. There is a clear route of career progression within the industry and an experienced scaffolder can travel the world with a sought-after skill set.   • Part 2 (Tube & Fitting)

    MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 2026 | 8:00 AM

    The 10-day Part 2 course is the second part of the required CISRS training for the Scaffolder card. Part 2 can only be accessed when Part 1 has been successfully completed, and 6 months experience has been gained following the Part 1 course. A second Trainee card can be applied for.

  • CISRS CPD Scaffolder / Advance Scaffolder Renewal

    MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9 2026 | 8:00 AM

    From the 1st July 2017, it is a requirement of the CISRS Training scheme, that CISRS Scaffolders and Advance Scaffolder card holders must attend a 2-day Scaffolder Refresher/ CPD course in order to renew their CISRS cards. Renewal is required every 5 years.

  • Advanced Skills Test (AST)

    TUESDAY, AUGUST 11 2026 | 8:00 AM

    The law requires that any individual wishing to erect, alter or dismantle scaffolding must be able to prove their competency. The industry-wide accepted proof of competency for operatives is to hold a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card. Upon completion of this course, the operative will receive a CISRS Advanced Scaffolders Card. Valid for 5 years.

  • CISRS New Entrant Constructions Operatives Training Scheme (COTS)

    MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 2026 | 8:00 AM

    The course is for operatives who carry out onsite Labouring duties in support of Scaffolding operations. The holder of a CISRS Trainee Scaffolder or CISRS Scaffolding labourer card will have current Health and Safety knowledge and the required skills to carry out their duties in a safe manner.

  • Advanced Scaffolder Training

    MONDAY, OCTOBER 5 2026 | 8:00 AM

    A CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card Holder is deemed competent to lead a scaffold gang in all scaffold operations, including complex design structures. The Advanced Scaffold training is the first step in this process.

  • Basic Scaffold Inspection Course

    TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6 2026 | 8:00 AM

    This course is intended for CISRS Scaffold card holders or for inspection card renewals, and also for those responsible for inspecting and checking basic scaffolds for safe use, signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations. You should have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, coming from time spent in your individual industry sector. You’ll be required to confirm this experience by producing a CV.

  • Part 1 Tube and Fitting (Trainee Scaffolder Card)

    MONDAY, OCTOBER 19 2026 | 8:00 AM

    CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card holders will be considered a trainee scaffolder regardless of the experience they have within the scaffolding industry. Accordingly, they should not undertake any scaffolding activities unless they are under the direct supervision of a qualified scaffolder. The Trainee will be expected to complete the following training within the validity of 2 x 18 month CISRS Trainee Scaffolder Cards: • COTS • CISRS Part 1 • CISRS Part 2 • NVQ Level 2/ SCQF Level 5 • CISRS 1 Day Skills Test
