Careers Vision Statement

To empower every learner at Training 2000 to make informed, aspirational, and confident career decisions through a progressive, inclusive, and responsive careers programme that supports successful transitions into employment, further education, or training.

Key Strategic Priorities

  1. Embed a sustainable and strategic approach to careers leadership across all programmes.
  2. Enhance learner readiness for employment through meaningful employer engagement and work-based experiences.
  3. Develop a robust system for evaluating the impact of the careers programme to inform continuous improvement.

Priority 1: Embed a sustainable and strategic approach to careers leadership

Problem: Careers leadership is not yet fully embedded across all departments and programmes.

Strategic Objective: By July 2026, establish a cross-functional careers team and integrate careers planning into all curriculum areas.

Outcomes: Clear ownership of careers across departments; increased staff confidence in delivering careers-related learning.

Actions:

  • Appoint a Strategic Careers Leader and Operational Careers Champions in each department.
  • Deliver CPD on careers education and the Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Align careers planning with Training 2000’s strategic development plan.

Responsible: Quality of Education Manager, Departmental Managers, HR (for CPD).

Milestones:

  • Leadership team in place by Dec 2025.
  • CPD delivered by March 2026.
  • Careers integrated into all curriculum plans by July 2026.

Priority 2: Enhance learner readiness for employment

Problem: Learners need more structured and diverse employer encounters to build confidence and workplace skills. (APP)

Strategic Objective: By July 2026, ensure every learner has meaningful employer encounters and at least one work-based experience.

Outcomes: Improved learner confidence, employability skills, resulting in increased career opportunities and improved positive destination outcomes.

Actions:

  • Partner with local employers to co-design and deliver encounters.
  • Launch a “Learners as Leavers” profile to guide employability development.
  • Embed reflective activities post-encounter to reinforce learning.

Review the structure and improve the process of sourcing appropriate work experience opportunities for learners that meet their individual needs.

Responsible: HR, Employer Engagement Lead, Tutors, Careers Leader.

Milestones:

  • Improved placement processes in place by October 2025

Employer partnership framework launched by Jan 2026.

  • Learners as Leavers profile implemented by Sept 2026.
  • Annual review of encounters and feedback by July each year.

Priority 3: Develop a robust system for evaluating the career impact

Problem: Limited data on the effectiveness of the current careers programme.

Strategic Objective: By July 2026, implement a careers impact evaluation framework using learner voice, destination data, and stakeholder feedback.

Outcomes: Data-driven improvements to careers provision; increased stakeholder confidence.

Actions:

  • Conduct baseline and annual surveys of learners, staff, and employers.
  • Track intended and actual destinations of all learners.
  • Use FSQ (Future Skills Questionnaire) and Compass+ for benchmarking.

Responsible: Data Coordinators, Quality of Education Manager, Head of Quality and Contracts.

Milestones:

  • Baseline data collected by Dec 2025.
  • Annual impact report published each July.
  • Adjustments to provision based on findings each September.
