EAL Level 2 certificate in PLCs Short Course (AUEC2-011)
This unit identifies the training and development required in order that the students can demonstrate that they are competent in being able to: Prepare, plan and program multiple (siemens) PLC units by wiring and testing and validation activities using ladder logic. The unit also covers the base practical and safety understanding the use of electro-pneumatic equipment in modern production facilities.

Description
What you’ll learn
Students will connect and wire up the equipment and develop programs for multi-function systems. This will include creating inputting, testing and editing then the de-bugging of simple programs using ladder logic. This starts with simple traffic light systems and then moving on to more complex industrial style systems with complex arrangements with counters, timer and push pull conveyer systems
Students will be expected to connect peripheral components and communication links, and to load/download process controller programs, check them for errors, and create back-up copies of completed Programs to create a ranging portfolio of work.
Students will also look at trouble shooting or fault-finding methods to diagnose issues and correct as required. Students will also look at ways to further improve programs for greater efficiency.
Who is this course for
This course is aimed at Engineers that have a base understanding of electrical principles and provides a further base to up skill, or for those wanting to gain foundational practical skills, from PLC/Programming roles for either maintenance or automation roles, who are needing to gain a greater understand electrical/pneumatic basic principles.
How you’ll be assessed
Assessment is done through knowledge-based questions and products of work combined with observations. The student will receive an EAL Level 2 certificate upon successful completion of the course.
