A group of our engineering and construction apprentices have made it through to the finals of a national competition, WorldSkills UK 2015.

The group comprises of Fort Vale employees Sam Parkinson (20) Matthew Bryce (20) and Chris Taylor (26) from the WEC Group. They are competing in categories including CNC Turning, CNC Milling and Construction Metalwork respectively.

After showcasing their technical and employability skills in the regional competitions, they were shortlisted to take part in the coveted UK finals which are taking place between 19th to the 21st November at the NEC in Birmingham.

Steve Gray, CEO of Training 2000 said;

“As an organisation that has a genuine passion for training and developing young people, we are extremely proud to have three of our apprentices shortlisted for WorldSkills UK 2015.

“Last year our apprentices walked away with two gold and three silver medals from the competition, which is a real testament to the quality of training they have received at Training 2000 and the established skills and personal development schedule within their employers apprenticeship programs.”

Whilst at the show they will fight off strong competition from almost 600 fellow talented Apprentices, watched by 75,000 visitors over three days. The skills on display included diverse talents such as floristry, hairdressing, welding and catering.

Good luck!
