This vacancy is for a Metal Fabrication Apprentice based in Poulton–le–Fylde.

The broad purpose of the occupation is to carry out metal fabrication work using things such as rolled steel joists, columns, channels, steel plate and metal sheet etc.

We are looking to recruit an Apprentice to join our team in September.
Please note the first–year training will be block release training at Training 2000 in Blackburn.

As a member of Constructionline and Chas, we work with construction firms, local authorities, and various commercial partners. BRI–MET Ltd are proud holders of BSEN 1090 Exc 2 and are currently working towards Exc 3. We work in compliance with BSEN 1090, a harmonised standard that covers structural/construction steel and aluminium products that are installed in a permanent manner.

Duties will include:

  • Shadowing experienced fabricators to gain on the job knowledge and learn how to work out sizes and read drawings
  • Calculate and mark out various projects such as Fire escapes/Handrails/Bar Frames.
  • You will be trained to safely operate all machinery in the factory and how to set up welding machines.
  • You will learn how to install different projects such as structual steelwork/cellar drops/Security gates on sites across the country.

Training to be provided

The apprentice will be working towards completing the Metal Fabricator Standard which will include the following:

  • L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

  • L3 Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)

  • Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT (if not already achieved).
