This vacancy is for an Mechanical Engineer/ Toolmaker based in Burnley.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience whilst gaining on the job qualifications.

What will the apprentice be doing?

You will spend your first year ‘off the job’ at a training provider of our choice, learning all disciplines related to the machining apprenticeship. You will train on both manual and CNC lathes and milling machines, as well as learning various fitting techniques. On your return to the company you will continue your training in the tool room, whilst working alongside mentors, where you will improve upon the skills already learnt.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will work towards gaining your Level 3 diploma during your first 2 years, and continue onto your HNC in Mechanical Engineering by the end of your 4th year.

During your apprenticeship you will work alongside our skilled workforce and gain knowledge of engineering materials. You will learn how to read engineering drawings, measure and mark out, and produce sheet metal components and assemblies to precision tolerances. You will learn to do MIG/MAG and TIG welding and you will have the opportunity to experience various automated welding processes including robot welding, laser cutting technology and CNC LVD press brake procedures.

Training to be provided

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) ? Toolmaker, Tool & Die Maintenence.
  • Level 3 Diploma or extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
  • Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT (if not already achieved).
