This vacancy is for an CNC Machinist Apprentice based in Burnley.

This rewarding career requires a broad skill set – math, mechanical design, interpreting technical drawings and programs, eye for detail – to properly transform a metal casting into a valuable working machined part.

We will further enhance your skills by training you how to complete the below tasks.

  • Programme and set up CNC machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Set up and run manual lathes and vertical milling machines
  • Select appropriate tools and fixtures for each job
  • Monitor machine operation and adjust as necessary to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the machining process
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area
  • Observe Health and Safety practices

Skills Required:

  • Must be 18 years of age or above.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in Engineering; whether from school/college or outside of education.
  • Keen to learn and develop in the Engineering Field.
  • Previous experience on CNC Lathes is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience on CNC Milling machines is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Practical, self–motivated, and conscientious in meeting demanding targets and deadlines while following best practice standards

Qualifications Required:

  • Completion of A–Level or BTEC studies, preferably with an Engineering bias.
  • A minimum of 6 GCSE’s including English (Grade 4/C) and Maths (Grade 5/B).

Training to be provided

  • L2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing (Foundation Competence).

  • L2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge).

  • L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competencies) Machining.

  • L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
