COVID19 and Social Distancing – Apprentices – 25/03/20 – 11am

May we take this opportunity just to re-assure you that we are continuing to support your apprentices’ learning while your business is operating during this very difficult time.

We will do all we possibly can to ensure that apprentices will progress in their apprenticeship using remote means, keeping in touch by phone, email and one file.

As you may be  aware, Government places a safeguarding responsibility on ourselves as the training provider to ensure learners on our training programs are safely protected from harm and obviously at present this is more important than ever and respectfully suggest some advice below (which you may already be following.)

Social distancing is perhaps the strongest control we have according to the government alongside regular hand washing and regular disinfection of surfaces to slow down the impact and reduce the risk from this disease.

Please can we ask that learners are supervised a little more closely at the moment to ensure social distancing of 2m is achieved and wherever possible regular hand-washing takes place or if not regularly possible , the learners have access to hand gels.

Travel together in vehicles is difficult and if at all  possible, should be avoided –have such situations been risk assessed if relevant to your business?

If staff / apprentices have no other option but to travel together then we suggest cleaning /disinfecting  of surfaces in the vehicle regularly and asking drivers and passengers to use hand gel – now more than ever at this stage of the outbreak we urge your risk assessment gives strong consideration  to instructing staff and apprentices to wear protective masks when travelling in vehicles.

Message to Learners and Employers Coronavirus update – 23rd March 11am

Dear all,

Further to the government announcements over the weekend, we will be taking further preventative action in order to protect staff and learners over the next week.

It is with regret that we are planning to have a full site closure with effect from 12:30pm on Friday 27th March until further notice.  This date will be kept under daily review and it may be that we will be forced to close earlier if the Government take further steps before Friday or we deem the risk to staff  and customers as too great – if this happens we will communicate as soon as possible.

Training 2000 are committed to help and support our learners with online /  remote learning to ensure learners remain focused and on track with their apprenticeship. Tutors will have been in contact with learners to explain how they will continue to support through remote learning.  This may be through several methods for example- email, Blackboard, Onefile, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams or through distance learning work packs.

Learners should let tutors know immediately if you do not have access to the internet at home.

 Your tutors will:

  • Explain how they will communicate with you remotely during the temporary closure, for instance, using email, Onefile, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams or phone
  • Tell you how to access your lessons and resources while you are not in centre
  • Set work for each session/module you would attend if you were in centre
  • Assess/mark your work and provide feedback and plans/actions
  • Offer learner support through our Learner Support Officers for welfare and advice at this time
  • Work with employers to keep them informed of learner progression and take any questions you may have

Learners should:

  • You must use your Training 2000 email and check it daily
  • Read the Training 2000 help-sheets to support you with the set up of remote learning
  • Make sure you can access Microsoft Office 365 at home through a browser such as Chrome
  • Download the Microsoft Teams App on your mobile phone
  • Check that you can log in to Onefile ( if relevant) and access your qualification
  • Regularly log into Onefile or Teams to access your lesson instructions and resources
  • You will be required to access lesson materials and submit work through OneFile & Microsoft Teams
  • Complete distance learning work packs (if relevant)
  • Make sure you submit work for assessment as required by your tutors and most importantly ask for help if you are struggling with your work

This will be a new way of learning for most learners so we understand there will be challenges. If you do have any problems please contact your tutor.

Our Learner Support Officers are available to speak to any learners who may need additional guidance and support.

We are asking both learners and employers to continue to support and record the 20% off-the-job training.

We thank you for your patience and understanding at this challenging time while we work through the solutions.

Coronavirus update for all Apprentices and Trainees 18th March

Dear all,

The situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic is changing on a daily basis, as is the advice from Government. We will ensure we keep you updated regularly on our response to the changing situation as we may have to make changes as to how we deliver and assess your training.

We will continue to follow guidance and instruction from Public Health England and the Government in relation to Coronavirus. We will take all necessary steps to ensure that your health, safety and wellbeing is at the forefront of our decisions and for Apprentices and Trainees on work placement we will ensure we liaise with your employer regarding your learning.

Training 2000 is currently open as normal with extra precautions in place and we are asking all staff and learners to follow best practice in hygiene. You should attend training as planned unless:

  • you fall into a high risk category as per Government guidelines and are self-isolating for up to 3 months
  • you are unwell
  • you are self-isolating due to someone in your household having either a high temperature or a cough
  • Your employer has already made alternative arrangements with us

All absences should be reported in the normal manner. If you are high risk or are self-isolating and you haven’t already let us know, please do so. Our Learner Support Officers are available to speak to any learners who may need additional guidance and support.

We do not want this to affect your learning and we are fully committed to continuing your education. That said, we might have to make some adjustments for example if learners are no longer attending classes or our staff are self-isolating we will move towards online / remote delivery and mentoring. If we need to make changes to our planned delivery or scheduled exams and end point assessments we will contact you.

We will also use digital means to send work for you to do that our staff will then assess and give you feedback. For Apprentices we have asked your employers to continue to support the contractual requirements of providing opportunity for you to undertake your 20% off-the-job training.

As you will appreciate this is an unprecedented situation and we thank you for your patience and understanding at this challenging time while we work through the solutions. Please check all mediums of contact phone, email, onefile as our staff will be in contact with you. If you have any concerns please contact your Engagement Advisor, Training Officer or a Learner Support Officer.

Thank You Barbara Davies!

My name is Paul Taylor and I have recently had the absolute pleasure of being taught both Maths and English by Barbara Davies.

I am currently half way through my nursing degree at UCLAN so I am no stranger to teachers / educators.

The way Barbara teaches is an inspiration, she seems to have an ability to understand each and every student, she then adapts her teaching style to suite all.  Nothing is too much trouble and her passion to teach shines through.

It is because of Barbara I will always recommend Training 2000.

She is an asset to your organisation and I hope she receives the recognition she truly deserves.
