Designed specifically for year five and six primary school pupils, the 1-day programme uses a range of interactive and fun techniques to introduce the concept of stereotyping to a younger audience and bust the myths around gender and ethnicity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) careers.
The full-day session will be delivered at Training 2000’s cutting-edge headquarters based in Blackburn, which includes an advanced engineering workshop and a large automotive facility. On the day your pupils will visit both of these areas for hands-on, practical taster sessions. The day is completed with an inspirational activity designed to embed the principles of equality and diversity and highlight pupils’ future career options.
Apart from the obvious benefits to pupils, the WiSE 5’s project helps schools to meet their statutory requirements as set out in the Equalities Act 2010, as well as meeting overall objectives such as the national Healthy Schools Programme, Every Child Matters and providing IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance)
