Four apprentices have finished as runners up in a national competition.

The Weld Off 2016 final saw Training 2000’s team compete with three others  – with the bright sparks challenged to deliver a piece of welding creativity which demonstrated their ability and knowledge.

The theme was ‘God Save the Queen’, recognising Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday, with the live ‘Weld Off’ taking place at Speedy’s National Distribution Centre in Staffordshire – and the Training 2000 team delivered a carriage to mark the Royal occasion.

The teams faced a series of challenges, including a Q&A, safety round, welding skills section and creative test.

Derek Neve, Training 2000 Engineering Manager said:

“Finishing runners-up against such tough competition is a fantastic achievement for each member of our team, who demonstrated their growing welding abilities and created a high quality piece of work.

“Each learner demonstrated the variety of skills and knowledge they have learnt during their course and should be proud of their achievements during the Weld Off contest.”
