Description
This course will cover:
- Introduction to NVQs
- Control the reception of waste
- Control the moving sorting and storage of waste
- Monitor procedures to control risks to health and safety
- Control site operations
- Control maintenance and other engineering operations
- Restore and prepare for aftercare on landfill sites or Develop schemes for the restoration and aftercare of landfill sites or Prepare landfill sites for the acceptance of waste
- Control improvements to waste management operations
- Environmental protection
- Support the efficient use of resources
- Contribute to the selection of personnel for activities or Review the performance of teams and individuals
- Create effective relationships
- Provide information to support decision making on a waste management site
Pre-Requisites
Preferably but not necessarily a minimum of 12 months experience of controlling waste management operations at an appropriate facility.
Target Group
Managers of / or persons who are responsible for the operational control of high risk waste management facilities functioning under the legislative requirements of a permit (waste management licence) issued by the Environment Agency.
Aim
To provide candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate they are competent to the requirements of the appropriate standards for the required facility i.e. landfill in accordance with the Environmental Permitting Regulations (England and Wales) 2007 and the Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Scotland and N. Ireland).
Objectives
On completion of the award the candidate will have demonstrated they have:
- The appropriate experience and working knowledge and understanding of the operation of the relevant facility within the requirements of legislation regulation and the company’s systems and procedures.
Assessment
Observation question and answer sessions and assessment of a portfolio of evidence.
