Group work lectures videos questions and answers with practical experience whilst under assessment
Description
Administration Induction critique and course theory to include:
- Accident prevention and analysis
- Role of the Instructor/Principles of Instructing
- Questions and answers technique
- Design and use of training aids
- Safety and the instructors responsibility
Practical to include:
- Classroom presentation
- Lift Truck familiarisation
- Daily take over inspection and maintenance
- Directing trainee practice
- Setting up conducting and marking of basic operating skill test
- Accident analysis exercise.
Pre-Requisites
Experienced Fork Lift Truck Operators who are able to provide proof of an up to date assessment of their practical skills (i.e. Test Certificate).
Target Group
Experienced FLT operators, minimum of 6 months experience of relevant type of FLT. Proof of FLT Certificate dated within the last 12 months.
Aim
A 10 day course for people to be trained as an Operator at instructor level and become a basic FLT Instructor.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:
- Operate a FLT to the standard required by RTITB of Lift Instructors
- Structure training material into logical sequence for teaching knowledge and skills
- Adopt an effective style for teaching skills appropriate to the type of truck involved
- Adopt an objective and critical approach towards the effectiveness of the instruction they present using appropriate methods of assessment of trainees progress
- Set up, conduct and objectively mark the lift
- Truck Basic Operating Skills Test endorsed by RTITB.

To Include: Test of basic operating skill Associated knowledge and practical test to instructor standard RTITB Examination of Practical Instructional Ability RTITB Examination of Instructor Associated Knowledge.
