Description
This course will cover: - The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 in relation to power presses - The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 - Safety devices including fixed guarding interlock guarding and light guards and tool settings - Duties of appointed person - Action to be taken by the employer to empower the employees - An understanding of noise within the workplace - Written assessment
Target Group
Those whose duties are to prepare and maintain a power press for use and those who supervise the above.
Aim
A 1 day course to gain a full understanding of the legal duties as outlined within the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
Objectives
On successful completion of the course delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of both the employers and employees duties under both the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- State when and how the inspection of safety devices must be carried out
- Identify the importance of work based training regarding their particular power press
- State that the employer or occupier must appoint the employee to carry out duties
- State the effect of noise in the workplace
