Must hold Dental Nurse Qualification and Dental Nurse Registration. Must have supporting dentist.

Aim
The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of dental public health and its application in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.
Objectives
The objectives are:
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of the underlying philosophy of public health and dental public health and in particular the underlying social economic and political determinants of health
- Describe and apply the key principles of the Primary Health Care Approach
- Apply the theory and practice of epidemiology statistics and the behavioral sciences to dental public health
- Demonstrate an up to date knowledge of current concepts and theories in the dental sciences that are relevant to dental public health and the development of professional practice based upon scientific and ethical principles
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practice of planning and providing oral health education to patients
