Pre-Requisites
You need to be a qualified and registered dental nurse
Target Group
Qualified Registered Dental Nurses working in an Environment where Sedation is regularly used.
Aim
A 6 day course held over 9 months to enable students to gain conscious sedation qualification.
Objectives
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Explain legal implications surrounding conscious sedation
- Recognise indications & contra indications for all types of sedation
- Demonstrate an in depth understanding of clinical & electromechanical monitoring
- Explain anatomy & physiology relating to conscious sedation
- Demonstrate the ability to respond & deal with medical emergencie
- Be competent in both inhalation and intravenous sedation
- Explain the pharmacology involved in oral inhalation and intravenous techniques
Assessment
Written and oral practical examination.
