Within a normal work area the trainer will demonstrate safe practice and together with the trainee will discuss and lift a range of work normally expected of the trainee. The trainee needs to demonstrate his/her competence with the crane operation and will lift a range of work provided.

This course covers:Introduction to the course

  • - The Safe working loads at an angle to the line of force

  • - Working with power hoists and overhead cranes
  • - Method of slinging unbalanced loads

None

Target Group

Those attending should have the necessary level of physical and mental fitness and learning ability for the task. They should be equipped with the necessary PPE (sturdy footwear and hat).

Aim

A 1 day course for a person to obtain a certificate of basic training after successfully completing the practical and theoretical assessment.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course the operator will be able to demonstrate how to operate an overhead crane correctly and safely, taking care and consideration for the people in and around the working area. They will have demonstrated their practical ability of how to use an overhead crane carried out a pre-use inspection and successfully completed a theory paper.
