Description
The taught element will run over 3½ days and consist of:-
1) A half day induction session. This session will cover an introduction tot eh course, research methods and basic project management. Participants will choose a research assignment to be completed over the next two months, the results of which will be presented back to the group on day three. Participants will also have to design and deliver a short (15 minute) presentation on their company, its operating environment and a manger’s role within the company. This will be presented back at the start of the first full day session (normally two weeks after the induction).
2) A two day knowledge sharing session covering:-
• Understanding the management role and developing management skills
• Presentation skills
• Management styles
• Organisational culture
• Communication and feedback skills
3) A full day research project feedback and facilitated discussion session. On the final day the group members will present their research findings and facilitate an hour and a half open discussion on their findings. Participants will also have to create a formal report on their chosen project and a short reflective assessment covering what they have learnt from the process overall. There will also be the requirement to complete an ILM provided reflective assignment.
Target Group
This is suitable for those who have either completed a Level 3 Award in First Line Management or who are in a middle management position (or who is looking for promotion into a senior management position) and want to develop their knowledge of leadership and Management skills.
