Description
Training followed by the Refrigerant Handler Technician ATA assessment comprising of an online knowledge test and practical assessment. The practical assessments to include the following vehicle areas:
- Health & Safety Regulations correct use of PPE and guidelines throughout the practical assessments
- Procedures for handling AC refrigerant
- Recovery from an MVAC
- Recycling of refrigerant
- Recharging of an AC system
- Leak detection (inc. knowledge of at least two methods of checking for AC leaks)
- Store and transfer any waste material following current legal requirements and necessary documentation to support
Pre-Requisites
A minimum of 3 months experience in an appropriate role
Target Group
The ATA assessments should be of interest for companies aiming to achieve the BSI Kitemark Standard in view of the recently released PAS 125 document. It may also be of interest for those technicians working within the industry who wish to attain recognition for their level of skills.
Aim
A 1 and a half day session combining training and assessment on the basic principles & environmental legislation relating to Automotive Air-Conditioning systems. The day will consist of classroom training and workshop demonstration followed by assessment to assess a candidates underpinning knowledge via on-line test and their practical skills by a series of workshop tasks relating to refrigerant handling.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of all the elements of the assessments day the candidate will have demonstrated their competence in relation to refrigerant handling.
Assessment
Multiple choice on-line underpinning knowledge test and practical assessment. (Training will be given on one day with the delegate invited back for a seperate half day session for assessment)
