A Training 2000 apprentice who has combined a passion for sport whilst developing his business skills is all set to represent Great Britain in two key European events next month.
Martin started his apprenticeship in 2012 and has gone on to complete levels 2, 3 and this month has successfully finished level 4 in business administration.
Working at Lancashire Sport throughout, Martin has picked up a wide range of skills which he has been able to utilise in the workplace straight away, alongside studying at Training 2000’s Harwood Street site. He was also a key member of the team of apprentices who won a competition to build a mobile app for Jisc.
His involvement in sport goes beyond his place of work – with Martin currently preparing to compete in the Great Britain Paraclimbing Team at this year’s Paraclimbing World Championship in Paris.
Also in September, Martin is set to represent Great Britain in the PAFA Amp Football Cup, taking place in Warsaw, Poland.
Martin said: “I started an Apprenticeship as I was keen to earn a wage whilst I learnt new skills – I didn’t want to go to university.”
“I have had fantastic support from my employer and Training 2000 throughout my apprenticeship both in my professional role and also my sport activities.”
