Engineering Instructor – Fabrication & Welding

We currently have a vacancy available for an Engineering Instructor for Fabrication and Welding

 

About the Role:

A vacancy has arisen within the Company’s Operations Organisation (Engineering Department). You will primarily be responsible for the delivery and assessment of 1st year off-the-job training programmes to employed Apprentices from our customer base. The positions require self motivated and effective team players who possess excellent communication and organisational skills.

A teaching/assessor qualification, although not essential, would be a definite advantage and applicants must have completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship. A background with experience in Fabrication & Welding is essential and experience of Sheet Metal is desirable.

 

Job Role:

  • To design, develop and deliver creative, inclusive learning programmes, schemes of work, lesson plans and materials to deliver high quality structured learning sessions to meet learner and customer needs and programme specifications.

 

  • To contribute to the internal verification, assessment and standardisation of work process and to the development and delivery of the SAR and QIP in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

 

  • To maintain appropriate learner tracking records that meet company, awarding body and customer requirements. To provide information relating to learner progress, achievements and support needs.

 

  • To effectively manage the delivery environment and the learning process to ensure the safety and well being of all learners. To follow guidance in effectively contributing to the management of learner behaviour.

 

  • To ensure that all resources are serviceable and safe for use and to maintain the stock levels of relevant consumable items in agreement with the appropriate Manager.

 

  • To contribute to the promotion of Training 2000 particularly with employers, learners, schools and parents by assisting with School visits, Parents Information Evenings, Open Days and Prize Nights relative to the Engineering department.

Learner Support Officer

 Full Time, Permanent

Learner Support Officer

We have grown to around 240 staff and many centres across the North West and other areas of the UK, working with national employers across a wide range of sectors, whilst maintaining local support.

An important vacancy has arisen for a Learner Support Officer. This will be a permanent full time position based in Blackburn. The role will mainly work with Apprentices.

 

About the role:

The successful candidate will be based at Training 2000’s Blackburn site in Lancashire but will be required to travel to alternative sites / companies to visit learners.

In this role you will work to retain learners through high quality, customer focused support initiatives to enable learners to engage and achieve their learning goals.

 

Requirements:

For the post, a non-judgemental attitude with strong experience of working with young people from different backgrounds would be an advantage. Strong experience of Information, Advice and Guidance and partnership working is critical for this role. Proven experience of working alongside employers and experience of safeguarding would also be beneficial.

You will be engaging and positive, self-motivated and a good communicator with excellent listening skills, and influencing skills. You will also be highly organised, with strong planning and administration skills and experience of working to auditable standards.

Main Duties:

  • Undertake learner support activities with at risk learners.
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to learners.
  • Liaise with operational teams in the identification of at risk learners.
  • Keep operational teams up to date with the progress of at risk learners.
  • Support operational teams in the collection of learner feedback.
  • Contribute to and support the learner voice across the business.
  • Liaise with external agencies in the support of learners as appropriate.
  • Complete timely and accurate records of support provided to at risk learners.
  • Ensure auditable evidence is in place to support learner related activities.
  • Produce summaries of learner feedback surveys.
  • Manage own caseload of at risk learners ensuring minimum frequency of visits is met.
  • Adhere to company quality system policies and procedures.
  • Meet funding body audit requirements for learners with additional social needs.
  • Contributing to the promotion of Training 2000 and representing the company at external meetings on matters relating to learner support/safeguarding.

Training Officer – Project & Design

An important opportunity has arisen within the Company’s Engineering department for a Training Officer – Employer Engagement, with a specific background in Engineering Design and Project Control

 

About the Role:

This role will be based from Training 2000’s site in Blackburn and will be permanent role.

It will primarily be responsible for the management and assessment of Apprentices following a Design or Project Control standard or framework.

The main purpose of the role will be to provide a full and comprehensive training service to Company’s on their business needs, including the delivery of professional and focused support through innovative delivery of Company programmes which will inspire learners to achieve their potential.

 

Requirements:

The position requires a self-motivated and effective team player who possesses excellent communication and organisational skills.

A relevant assessing qualification and previous assessing experience is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided for this role.

Applicants must have completed a recognized Engineering Apprenticeship and a background, with experience in Engineering Design and/or Project Control is essential.

 

Main Duties:

  • To deliver motivational and inspirational learning programmes in a timely, cost effective manner, in line with specific business targets and quality assurance standards.
  • To deliver professional and focussed support, through the innovative delivery of the Company’s programmes and frameworks which will inspire learners to achieve their potential.
  • To provide comprehensive guidance, advice and support to Employers, customers and learners on their training needs, requirements covering all of the Training 2000 training portfolio.
  • To continuously develop the relationship with employers, customers and learners to secure profitable business opportunities which are sustainable and which enhance the Company reputation of delivery and quality service in a highly responsive manner.
  • To develop and continuously improve the provision of a highly responsive customer service, based on a comprehensive understanding of the client’s business needs, embracing both internal and external customers which is built on quality of service, strong customer relationships and employer engagement.
  • To generate additional revenues in line with the Company’s business plan by recruiting quality learners through effective initial assessment and further development of existing client relationships in order to gain new customers both internally and externally to the organisation.
  • To carry out and effectively manage the quality assurance process in compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures adhering to the requirements of external stakeholders which includes awarding bodies and funding organisations.
  • To monitor and continuously update learner records ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations in line with company requirements and providing information regarding Learner’s progress, achievements and support needs as directed, to inform performance.
  • To provide a supportive and safe environment for learners to achieve success both through employment and pastoral care in line with the company’s safeguarding policy, health and safety policy and code of conduct as part of the organisations duty of care.
  • To support the development of a culture which embraces Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and the company core values through challenging and continuous improvement.
  • To carry out regular risk assessments of the learning process and environment in accordance with the Company’s risk assessment policy and procedure, and implement any relevant control measure/ action plans.
  • To promote, sell and deliver Apprenticeships and higher level Engineering Qualifications to Level 4, where appropriate, as part of the Company’s Strategic Business Development Plan.
  • To professionally liaise and work with all key stakeholders involved in the learning process to ensure full integration, support and promotion of the company’s services.
  • To be responsible for self development including continuous professional Development and competence incorporating both academic and professional training in line with the Institute for Learning Code of Professional Conduct and awarding body requirements.
  • To be fully flexible, in accordance with business needs to support and undertake a variety of roles, including Training Officer – Engineering Centre, FE Tutor and Training Officer – Engineering Engagement.

2 x Tutor Employability (Study Programmes)

We have grown to around 240 staff and many centres across the North West and other areas of the UK, working with national employers across a wide range of sectors, whilst maintaining local support.

Two vacancies have arisen in the Study Programmes department for a Tutor.

About the Role:
This vacancy will be responsible for teaching the Foundation Youth Learning programmes to young people aged 14-19 years, primarily teaching Employability, Personal and Social Development skills. This will include delivering Employability, ICT skills and Personal Social Development Skills (PSD), whilst providing effective learner support. Delivery of Business Administration will be a significant advantage but is not essential.

This will be a full time position within the Study Programmes department based at the Blackburn site.

Requirements:
You need to be committed, passionate and driven to deliver the company’s objective of an Amazing place with Amazing people!

Ideally you will hold or be working towards a teaching qualification; it would be an advantage if you hold a Business Administration specialism but not essential.

You will demonstrate a strong commitment to Continuous Professional Development, ensuring your development is aligned to specified requirements.

You must have proven experience of delivering within a range of subject areas to a foundation cohort e.g. Functional Skills, Vocational skills, Employability and Personal & Social Skills.

You will have experience in teaching to groups of learners from diverse backgrounds that may be facing multiple barriers to participation in employment and training.

You will have a genuine desire to work with young people and to motivate them to progress to Further Education or Employment.

It is expected that you will be well organised, innovative and creative, have strong classroom management skills, be self-motivated and a good communicator as well as having excellent listening skills and good administrative skills.

You must have a proven track record of your learners achieving and good to outstanding lesson observation feedback. You will have significant experience in the design and development of curriculum, developing teaching resources and lesson plans to support learner centred delivery.

You must hold a valid driving licence and have access your own transport.

An important vacancy has arisen within our Engineering Department for Higher/Further Education Tutors.

 

About the Role:

This role will be responsible for the delivery and assessment of BTEC (Pearson) Further Education qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, and Higher Education qualifications at Levels 4 and 5 HNC/HND in the engineering disciplines of Manufacturing, Design, Project Management, Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance or Electrical and Electronics.

This is an exciting opportunity as part of delivering high quality learning provision in support of the Company’s Engineering Apprenticeship Programmes. This opportunity is fundamental in Training 2000 achieving its strategic vision to continuously improve its teaching and learning.

This role is a full time, permanent position working 40 hours per week; with a flexible working requirement.

 

Requirements:

Applicants must hold an Engineering qualification relevant to one or more of the abovementioned engineering disciplines. They must also hold a professional teaching qualification at a minimum of level 5, or the achievement of a level 5 within a twelve month period.

The successful candidate will demonstrate highly developed innovative inspiring teaching skills.

 

Terms and Conditions:

This position attracts a salary of £29,290 per annum with a supplementary payment for the role of £4,210 per annum making the total package £33,500 per annum

In addition, this position offers an attractive employment package which includes 29 days holiday in addition to bank holidays, an accrual of 1 extra day holiday for each service year; up to a maximum of five years, free on-site parking, childcare vouchers, access to the company healthcare scheme, access to the pension scheme and free life insurance, subject to qualifying periods.

ICT SupportTechnician – First Line

1st Line ICT Support Technician

A challenging and exciting vacancy has arisen for a 1st Line ICT Support Technician within the ICT Department. This post is dedicated to supporting, enhancing and developing the students, employees and systems used across the whole company.

About the role:

This role will be key in the first and second line support to all company employees and students across a wide range of disciplines such as desktop, system, server and telephony support.

Within this role the successful candidate will develop their own knowledge and skills working in conjunction with the Network Development and Senior ICT Engineers

The successful candidate will need to establish excellent rapport across the company, communicating at all levels in a professional and supportive manner to ensure efficient and quality support is provided to the end user.

 Main Duties: 

  • To provide first and second line ICT support for all Training 2000 computers, servers, network infrastructure and telephony installations.
  • Provide desktop support across the company where possible utilizing remote support systems.
  • Installation and configuration of all ICT related equipment, including wiring and cabling of hardware and network components.
  • To provide proactive preventative maintenance on all ICT enabled training suites in accordance with scheduled maintenance plan.
  • Manage and maintain the internal job request system and provide first line telephone support to the company.
  • Undertake critical backup processes as defined by the Network Development Engineer.
  • To support the company and HR team through basic training to end users on the use of company systems.
  • Undertake any other ICT related duties as deemed relevant and appropriate.
  • To work outside of set business hours should the need arise to ensure system uptime and business continuity.
  • Adhere to all relevant working instructions, procedures and policies


Essential Requirements:

  • Strong software and hardware knowledge across standard business systems and mobile platforms – Microsoft, Apple (MACOS / IOS), Android
  • Relevant qualifications suitable to the role i.e. MCP, ACSP etc
  • Knowledge of the configuration and support of ip telephony systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems and the use of active directory and office 365
  • Knowledge and experience of network configuration, structure and cabling

Previous experience in a first line support role is essential.
Experience of second line support is desirable

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to deliver an outstanding service across the company communicating at all levels.

For this role, you must have an excellent understanding of supporting Windows desktop operating system environments, troubleshooting and problem solving. In addition to this you must possess a deep passion for developing the use of technology within the workplace through innovation and support.
