Real Life Story: Lewis

Male head and shoulder shot smiling

Lewis began as a Mechatronics Engineering Apprentice after realising that classroom based University learning was not working for him. He secured a factory job at Gilberts Ltd in Blackpool and learned of the Apprenticeship vacancy in November 2018.

He said, ” I have always been a practical learner rather than an academic person and enjoy being hands on”

“I am doing something I have always been interested in, the Apprenticeship gave me a pathway into the career I always aspired to.”

Within his new role as an apprentice, Lewis has gained confidence in his ability whilst working towards a qualification.

Lewis went on to say “I enjoy my role, so it has increased my wellbeing in work and outside of it. I hope to carry on working in this field for many years and keep developing and learning.”
