A Cumbrian Dental Apprentice has been commended for her hard work, dedication and ability as a Dental Nurse by both her training provider and employer.
Lauren Ormandy, 18, based at Wigton Dental Practice, has progressed from a Level 1 Study Programme and is about to complete her Level 3 Dental Nursing qualification with Training 2000, the biggest Group Training Association in England.
Lauren, from Aspatria, started her Dental Study Programme in 2012 and will qualify as a Dental Nurse this year.
The Apprenticeship has helped to refine Lauren’s technical skills in areas such as patient confidentiality, cleanliness and quality assurance whilst she has also developed her confidence, communication and employability skills.
Speaking of her Apprenticeship experience Lauren said;
“The course has really helped me. I’ve always been interested in dental work but knew I didn’t learn well in the classroom. I much prefer learning in the workplace and being practical.
My qualification will provide a lot of opportunities, meaning I can travel and work abroad in Australia or on a cruise ship.
I’ve really enjoyed myself, and the Training 2000 team are very helpful.”
After completing her qualification Lauren plans on developing her career further through Training 2000’s post-grad qualifications such as Radiography and Fluoride Application.
Gail Warburton, Dental Manager at Training 2000 added;
“Lauren is a determined student, she started with low confidence which has grown throughout the years. I am looking forward to seeing her progress in her workplace after completing her qualification at the end of the month.”
The Apprenticeship programme is co-funded with the European Union European Social Fund (ESF)
