Accrington-based coach company, Moving PEOPLE, has committed to working to recruiting its second apprentice in as many years after its current training 2000 apprentice successfully supported the growth of its vehicle fleet, which has almost doubled since 2010. Dominic is completing his Apprenticeship with Training 2000, where he combines work experience with undertaking a nationally-recognised qualification.
Dominic’s manager, Andrew Parry, explains more: “Having an apprentice in the garage has not only improved efficiency, enabling us to increase our fleet and expand the business, it has also rejuvenated our current workforce encouraging a culture of learning within the company as well as allowing us to keep up-to-date with new developments in the industry.
“Dominic has brought fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the team and is on track to one day being able to run his own garage.”
Before leaving school, Dominic was unsure of what his next step was going to be, until he heard about Apprenticeships from a careers advisor.
Although his friends had chosen to go to college, Dominic knew that he wanted to do something different and work as a mechanic. Now, whilst completing his qualification, Dominic is able to support Moving PEOPLE’s chief mechanic, Mark Rolston, working on the entire fleet to keep the company moving.
“When I learnt that I could do an Apprenticeship I was really interested to find out more. This is how I came across the HGV Apprenticeship with Moving PEOPLE,” said Dominic.
“Now, nearly two years into my Apprenticeship I am still really enjoying it and am looking forward to becoming a fully-qualified mechanic.”
As well as recommending Apprenticeships to others, Dominic is helping fellow young people with their Apprenticeship as Moving PEOPLE provides transport for other apprentices to attend Training 2000’s Blackburn facilities.
Glen Chamberlain, Career Development Advisor from Training 2000 commented on Dominic’s progress, adding: “Dominic has worked really hard, both at work and in our training sessions. He is an excellent role model for anyone thinking of undertaking an Apprenticeship. His involvement in the company’s growth is certainly something of which to be proud.”
