Buckingham Palace Visit for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Anniversary

May 20, 2016

Representatives from Training 2000 attended the Diamond Anniversary Gold Award Presentation in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

Invited as a centre which delivers the award to young people across the North West, two members of staff presented as part of the event a commemorative badge along with other organisations who have been involved in the award through its 60 year history.

As part of the presentations, attendees heard from a range of guest presenters including TV host Holly Willoughby and double Paralympic Gold Medal winner Hannah Cockcroft.

Groups were then visited by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex, who talked to guests about the work their organisations do in providing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as an opportunity to young people.

Engineering manager Dave Tolen, who attended the ceremony said:

“It was a great honour to attend this historic occasion to celebrate how learners benefit from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, including many at Training 2000.”
