Training 2000 Responds to Redundancy

Hundreds of people across Lancashire are being supported back into employment thanks to help from Blackburn based training provider, Training 2000.

Having secured over £290,000, from the European Social Fund (ESF) to deliver the Response to Redundancy programme, Training 2000 is providing free guidance and training to people in Lancashire that have been made redundant or are at risk of becoming so.

The programme provides a flexible package of advice, support and re-training to participants and gives early support to those at risk of redundancy offering them the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications for existing skills, and appropriate training to improve their chances within the job market.

Response to Redundancy is also open to employers who would like to support any of their workforce that are facing redundancy, the programme can be delivered flexibly around employers needs running from half a day to eight weeks.

Bob Gearey, Workforce Development Manager at Training 2000 comments: “As a training provider that works with businesses on an everyday basis, we know what businesses want, so are well placed to train participants to meet employer’s needs.

“Primarily we want to provide real help to people facing uncertain times in their careers and working lives or who just lost their jobs or are at risk of doing so.

“We hope that by equipping participants with valuable skills we can help to keep the time people spend out of work to a minimum, and work as a stepping stone to future employment.”

All participants will receive an individually-tailored package of careers advice, help with searching for a job and guidance around job applications through the programme and where possible, accredited units of training will be carried forward and put towards a future qualification.
