KATIE CALCULATES THE FORMULA FOR INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS

KATIE CALCULATES THE FORMULA FOR INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS Katie Taylor, 23, from Darwen has got her career in accountancy all figured out thanks to an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Apprenticeship from Blackburn based training provider, Training 2000. Having recently been ranked 22nd in the world for her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) audit examination results, Katie is proof that with an Apprenticeship, the sky really is the limit!

Having achieved four AS Levels at college, Katie felt she needed a change from traditional classroom learning. Set on a career in accountancy, an Apprenticeship allowed her to continue with her learning whilst gaining hands on experience at work.

Katie currently works for Blackburn based accountants, Egan Roberts, she comments: “It was thanks to Training 2000 that I got my first job in the accounting sector, through their contacts with local employers they were able to find a firm that matched my training needs.

“The great thing about training whilst working is that you are learning new skills every single day, as well as having a better understanding of the job you are undertaking.”

Gill Makin, Career Development Adviser at Training 2000 commented: “An Apprenticeship was a great start to Katie’s career in accountancy, she has since moved on to complete her AAT Level 4, (equivalent to a second year of a degree), and has recently completed her ACCA qualification. Katie is a fantastic example of how vocational qualifications can be an excellent pathway into a career of choice. Having achieved her dream, she is now a qualified accountant and I am sure she will go far within her chosen career.”

Katie is keen to continue studying for further qualifications, she concludes: “Many of my friends chose to go to university, but I have found that through my on-the-job training not only have I gained the qualifications I need, I’ve also gained hands on experience and earned a wage. Something which I think stands me in good stead for my career in the future.”
